I was hoping the text would be the size of a level 1 reader and I still don't really know what a Squishy is, but this book was a hit with my 4 year old Pokemon fan, so no major complaints. 5 stars based on my son's reaction, not my critique. The story is of good length for a bedtime story (one of a few, anyway). Holds your interest and the story itself is engaging. Makes sense if you are a Pokémon fan. If you have no idea what Pokémon is or who the characters are you may be a little confused with some of the characters, but they aren't introduced as it is assumed you will enter reading this book with some background knowledge.

Very cute book. Great for early readers. It is a fast read though, with each page having mostly an image take up the page (minimal text). My 8 year old finished it pretty quickly, in 1 setting.He did enjoy the story though and looking at the imagery.

I bought this for my daughter who loves it, as do I! I even got into the story, it was great!! I highly recommend this book for any beginner reader that is somewhat fluent and starting to enjoy reading. Its an easy read but if they are sounding out well this will work well, or can always hang by for support. I didn't want to leave the story was so good. Great quality, very impressive!

My son just turned 7 today and we read this book last night before bed. He loved it. He could probably read the story himself except the names of the characters can be tough (but that is how every pokemon story is). The story-line is cute. The girl finds a new pokemon. They dont know how to take care of it because it is not in the pokedex but they are kind and nice to it. Others try to steal it. Once it gets away from the "bad guys" it realizes it wants to stay with the girl because it knows the girl will look out for it. My son is in first grade. Perhaps readers a few years older than him might find the book too easy or not action filled enough for their liking but this is a book for younger readers so I think it is perfect for my sons age/grade.

4 and 6 year old love Pokémon and really like this book - I just wish I knew how to correctly pronounce all the names!

This was part of a birthday present for an elementary school student. I have bought lots of comics for kids and using Pokemon and other comics with superhero allows kids to have an interest iin reading while also having fun.

Got our six year old to read. My wife is genius and ordered this to help my son get into reading and it worked. He is always thumbing through the pages. He couldn't read the text at first but combined with his awesome schooling and his willingness to practice he loves reading now.

It's a nice little book and our 6 year old was super happy to get it (anything Pokemon makes her happy). She actually sat down and read it in one evening and the level of reading is matched well with that age. The only thing is I wish there was more text in the book.

This was a cute on level little reader book. My Pokémon obsessed son read it over and over, so it gets my seal of approval. More on level and different level Pokémon readers would be amazing!
