I don't know that I can truly explain why I like this book so much. Started reading it to my son and daughter in approx 1960. They loved it and so did I like reading it to them. The Book contains a wonderful collection of poetry of many topics and styles, appealing to from toddlers to adults! I think it is a great family book. Had two more children when the first two were in Middle School. They liked it just as much and now I have given it to their children! Our youngest grandchild wouldn't let her father stop reading it to her in the evening and then demanded permission to take the book to bed. She is only 22 months old.Somewhere along the line in moving around the book was lost. I just bought it for my husband and me. Love it. Thank you Louis Untermeyer for this collection!

My mother gave me my copy of this when I was only 5. She would read from it until I was able to read it on my own. I have read and reread this book until it is taped, glued and taped again to hold it together. I recently purchased a used copy to give to a friend for their new baby girl. The quality of the writing and illustrations are amazing. I am sure that reading this has helped shape my love of poetry and literature. Simply a wonderful book!!!!!!!!!

THE best book EVER. I can't believe it's out of print. I was given it when I was in grade school, & it introduced me to SO many authors & genres of literature. I bought it for my self again when i was 55, & now I buy it for baby shower gifts. It's the most precious gift you can give to a child, for a treasure that lats a lifetime. I'm sorry it ever want out of print.

This is a favorite childhood book of mine. I hunted it down after getting married in hopes of reading it to my children someday. It's filled with wonderful classic poems.It has some funny, witty poems but it doesn't have many of the "silly" slapstick style poems that are so common in kids poetry to day. While some may see that as a liability, I think it's a great thing to expose kiddos to good literature from a young age. If all kids digest is junk food, they will get fat. If all they read is silly, slapstick poetry they will have a harder time appreciating classic stuff later on.

This is a book I grew up listening to then later reading. Many hours of enjoyment! I have purchased a copy to read to my grandchildren in hopes of instilling the same love for poetry. The selections are many to offer something for young to old alike.N.B.: My purchase was from ABEBooks who did a wonderful job of describing the quality of the used book I ordered and packed it with great care.

I've been trying to find this book for a long time. It was a childhood favorite. Although reading it again as an adult does not hold quite the same "magic," it is still quite a good collection. The illustrations are gorgeous. So, so very glad to have found this book again. One of the biggest reasons I love poetry so much now is because I read this book. You can probably enjoy reading it on your own, but if you have a child (or children) to read it to, they will probably love it as well.

I received this book as a tween and loved it since then. The poetry is ageless and Louis Untermeyer gave us a tremendous gift in this collection of poetry. The illustrations are wonderful, too. Great to introduce young people to the treasure poetry offers us. Humorous, touching, and wise.

This book is one that I received as a gift when I was in my teens and loved it. I read it to my children growing up and wanted to have the opportunity to share it with my grandchildren but found it was out of print for many years. Fortunately it is such a classic that the original owners have retained it in good condition realizing that this is a book to be shared. I have been able to locate a total of two books to give to each of the families of my children. It is a cherished part of a family tradition.

This book is very well structured, written and visually appealed. It is evident that Dr. Payne knows this business and how to communicate complex ideas and concepts in simple language.This book is called "Teach your kids to code" but I think that is misleading. It should be called "Teach everyone to code". I am a grown-up, in age not in spirit, and I learned the basics of Python from this book and from his outstanding Udemy course with the same name.It is recommended for kids ages 9+ (and their parents) and I subscribe this recommendation. It will be difficult for younger kids to follow this book and perform the projects.Dr. Payne says in his TED talk that "Coding is not the goal, coding is the gateway". This book can be your and your child gateway to be a problem solver through a coder mindset!I am looking forward to reading more books from Dr. Payne and to learn more about coding!

It's extremely well written, and I believe it's one of those rare volumes that's great for anyone wanting to learn to code. The title belies the fact that this book can be used by children, parents, teachers, and even college students. My son learned scratch programming all last year. This was a great next step (he is 10 and homeschooling in the 4th grade). He really enjoys the graphical and interactive programs he's writing in Python. I like that he is learning with a real, marketable language. It is very kid-friendly, with easy-to-follow instructions and code samples.

Great book. Both my kids are learning code and they arent even 10 years old. The author does a great job teaching and he also has an online training class from the book that is amazing.

A word of warning to teachers using this book. Make sure you are running Python 3.x (3.0-3.5.0) otherwise some the code will not run and you will get errors. For example the code examples in the first chapter using the input will not work in Python 2.7 unless it is changed to raw_input. The author assumes all readers will be using the Python 3.0-3.5.0.

Nice book for teaching kids. Fun exercises, etc

I develop mobile applications, and program all day long. My daughter is 11, and wanted to get into programming. After some research, I found this book. It is an excellent guide, and extremely readable. It breaks code down to basic elements to teach children. My daughter sat down and started reading and doing these exercises as soon as we downloaded it onto her kindle. She loved it! She has worked through the whole book in just a few weeks! I would recommend this to any parent who was looking to develop coding and programming skills in children.

I'll be honest, I bought it for the mini-fig to go with my Justice League set. My 5 year old (who also loves Justice League) loves this book!

My son loved the book, even though I'm pretty sure he only wanted it for the Lego guy it comes with originally.

Lots of activity and games inside to keep kids engaged, hey figure was a nice perk and the packing allowed the book to arrive undamaged despite unique shape.

We got this as a gift for our 7 year old son's birthday. He loves legos and collecting new characters. He loves reading the book stories and activities. Highly recommended.

My son loved the lego man and reading the book, what more can you ask for?

William Koch is a Clinical and Forensic Psychologist whose practice and research interests involve psychological injuries. He lives in West Vancouver, British Columbia, and has appointments at both the University of British Columbia and Simon Fraser University.Kevin Douglas is on faculty at Simon Fraser University. He has a PhD in clinical-forensic psychology, as well as a law degree. His research interests and professional activities focus on forensic assessment, and he has published 40+ chapters and articles within this area. Tonia Nicholls is a Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada and Michael Smith Foundation for Health Research Post Doctoral Fellow with the Department of Psychiatry, University of British Columbia and the British Columbia Institute Against Family Violence. This book on Galatians is typical John Stott - He is to the point - yet in devotional method - discussing the problem existing and Paul's answer to the problems - Easy reading and understanding - After reading this book you will understand the book of Galatians better when you read it again.

When I start a study on a particular book of the bible, after a general reading of the text, I go through the introductions to whatever commentaries I may be using. For me, this is important. I like to have a thorough feel for the who, what, when, where, and why of the text at hand. When I started Galatians, I was surprised to find that this volume has no introduction apart from the 6 page 'review' at the end of the book. For that reason, I can't recommend this book as your only commentary on Galatians.That being said, it's still classic John Stott. He has a unique, often catchy, way of bringing the text to life that is eminently useful for sermon and lesson preparation. If you've used and enjoyed his other work, you're likely to also enjoy this one. I would recommend using this as a supplement to a more thoroughly exegetical commentary with a proper introduction.

While Stott claims that the Bible Speaks Today series (of which this work on Galatians-Thessalonians is a part) is not a set of commentaries but something less ambitious, "studies," I keep the books that he writes in the series close by as I teach an adult Sunday School class. Stott is a model of clarity, has insight borne of many years of study and ministry, and gives you what you need quickly. He also gives you his sources, mainly through his footnotes, providing a bibliography for the amateur bible student, as I am. For example, in Galatians, Stott makes great use of Luther's commentary - a source that is available from Amazon for download on Kindle without charge.

I think that this commentary is very much like other Stott commentaries that I have used (Ephesians & Romans). He gives great phrases for teaching and preaching. For example in chapter 1:1 he goes into detail about what an apostle was from a Jewish perspective. Then he gives a mini excursus on NT apostleship...and teaches that there can be no more apostles in any sense. He does not offer convincing evidence for his position. The problem with all of this is that none of it comes from the Galatians text he is discussing. There isn't anything in Galatians 1:1 that would tell us in any way that apostles are not for today. That sort of conclusion is not exegetical and is debated hotly in various circles. So you must watch out for Stott to give one side of a debated issue without clueing you in on the other views. So why do I rate this a four star? Why do so many people like Stott's stuff?I think that it's really good to use Stott's material for innovative and catchy phrases that summarize the terminology well. He often has an innovative outline of whatever he is teaching on. Galatians is no exception to that rule. Another thing that is great about this commentary is that it follows his matching bible study guides. So a Bible Study Leader can use Stott to start discussions, and if he has read this book, he has more meat to add to the discussions. To round out Stott, I heartily recommend the following additions.Since FF Bruce has a commentary on Galatians, I recommend his. Also Fung's NICNT on Galatians is very careful to thoroughly explore the most reasonable options and show why one is superior over the others. Both of them are really good.One more point...Stott sometimes interacts with popular pressures from different camps. For example in Galatians 1:1-2 he interacts with the radical camp and then turns to interact with the catholic theologians. For the radicals he says that Paul's apostolic authority is divine and higher than the contemporary authority they claim is equal to Paul. For the catholics, he says that apostolic succession is not a biblical concept. In these interactions he is very convincing. He provides answers for people who may be hearing things from these two popular groups that are contrary to Paul's teaching in Galatians.So for his interactions, fresh phraseology and innovative outlines, I recommend Stott heartily. Just check his exegesis...he should not be the solo commentary for a study on Galatians. If you can only get one, I recommend Fung's or Bruce's. Having said that, I will keep using Stott whenever I study Galatians. He is excellent overall. I'm grateful to have this commentary in my office.

Unfortunately I am not very good at reading the Bible on my own. On the other hand, I find many devotionals too superficial and don't like the fact that they skip around. On the other hand, I want to take seriously the challenge to study the scriptures dilligently. I have recently started reading commentaries like this and the expositional commentaries by R.C. Sproul as daily devotionals. This has worked well for me because they cover entire books of the Bible, so that things are not taken out of context. They also do things like provide historical background and word studies that help in really understanding the text. I found this one very readable and challenging.

This is one of my favorite books of all time. I regularly teach a course on the book of Galatians and John Stott's commentary is invaluable to me. I highly recommend for anyone who wants to understand how much Jesus has already done what we all strive to do for ourselves in our own merit and performance. This writing helps me and reminds me that what Jesus did was and still is ENOUGH and I am free to live in the truth of His righteousness.

The book met my expectations with a full and comprehensive revelation of the work of Paul during this particular season of his evangelistic journey. The book really exposed the "watershed" moment of the Christian faith being an experience of faith or works. John Stott's writing revealed the narrow lane by which "grace" through the power of the "Holy Spirit" working through Paul, made the difference.The writing was well written in a systematic easy to follow order. John Stott elaborated on his talking points very well giving the reader a clear and full understanding at the books completion.I recommend the book with an "A" rating.

The oversight of new editors has improved the organization and made this book one of a subset of "must have" texts in veterinary medicine.

A great quick reference for anything related to pharmacology. I abused the heck out of this book during my pharma coursework. It is quite comprehensive, and even mentions a lot of anecdotal reports with different drugs, which is always interesting to read about.

Excellent textbook on pharmacology. It covers the basics as well as overviews for various drug classes and the important drugs within those classes.

This book is OK. More for someone going for a residency or PhD in Pharmacology. For Vet Students there are much better, easier to understand texts out there.

Bullinger's reseach and insight into this topic is excellent.First, Bullinger investigates patterns in numbers in the things made by God, such as the heavens, chronology, nature, vegetables, physiology, chemistry, sound & music, and color.Next, he investigates patterns of numbers in the Word of God, such as the books of the Bible, the writers of the Bible, and occurrences of words & phrases in the Bible.Then he investigates the spiritual significance of numbers themselves, from 1 through 15, 17, 19, 20, and so forth up to 666.While the investigation itself is deep, the way it is presented is straightforward and easy to read, and is organized so that the reader can either read straight thru, or jump in and out to the numbers or concepts desired at a given moment.Overall, the book is an excellent resource for anyone with more than a casual interest in the Bible, and is useful for anyone desiring to understand another facet of God's design & messages for mankind.I have studied this topic at length for a number of years, and yet found his insight educational, interesting, thought-provoking, and even fun.I actually read the 2011 printing of this book by Martino Publishing, but expect any copy to be equally useful.I hope you enjoy this book as much as I have and continue to do.

Many times preachers or speakers give indication of the significance of numbers in Scripture but do not give the rational for their assertions. This book does not only give the rational for the assertion but gives Scriptural trends which one can follow. There is precedence and there are trends which bear out the claims made against each number. Very profitable. I did not read it all in one sitting but I did not read another book before I was finished.

This is my 2nd copy (I loaned the other to a Sailor years ago, and, bless his heart, he never returned it - sure hope h'es using it). I love this book; helps to make a lots of sense about the repetitious use of numbers in the Bible.

First of all this review is primarily about the Kindle edition of this book. I owned the hardcopy and enthusiastically recommend it. I would give it 5 stars.The Kindle edition, on the other hand, is terrible! I'm guessing that this eBook was simply run through a converter without even an attempt at formatting. The text is all jumbled, there are no links within the table of contents, and the Hebrew words are not rendered at all (Greek is rendered poorly). Tables and diagrams are destroyed beyond all recognition. Apparently, no human reviewed this before submitting it to Amazon. Subsequently, Amazon didn't bother to "look inside" either.If I read this in this format initially, I would not have fully appreciated the books content. Mr. Bullinger did considerable research into this book's content. I'm amazed that he was able to turn out a work of this quality years before the Strong's Exhaustive Concordance was published. It's a magnificent work that was sabotaged in this version!I was hoping to have a digital version as a reference work. However, the lack of links and cross-references eradicate any usefulness in this regard.Stay away from this Kindle version. Even at .99, it's overpriced! Buy the book instead. I wish I had my .99 back! :-(

This book is an absolute must read, and study, for any serious student of the Bible. E.W. Bullinger's work is, in my humble opinion, a brilliant and inspired work. It had a profound effect on me and I believe that if you read it, you will never look at the Bible the same way again. It will open your eyes and mind to the incredible, loving detail that God crafted in His Word. Bullinger will convince anyone sincerely seeking the truth that the Bible is a supernatural work of God and far different than any book written by man. I have given many copies of this book away to those I believe were seeking to know the Lord more intimately, and will continue to do so.

Great reference for looking at prophetic meaning of numbers.
