Brian K. Vaughan is losing me with this one because it seems to be going through the motions: Erin, Mac, and Tiffany finally reuniting with their long-lost friend KJ, although now in prehistoric times. There are times when I feel like I respect what Vaughan is trying to do with his 80s female protagonists, but while the background plot is wild, the protagonists are going from trope to trope: periods, girl on girl kissing, KJ dealing anti-semitism and misogyny, fighting sexist time travelers, meta-commentary on female comic strip characters in the 70s and 80s. All fine, but all seems a little too pat and forced. Vaughan remains action oriented despite this and while his dialogue is witty--it is Diablo Cody writing teens' witty. It's getting too clever, but the sentiment seems just not there. Chiang’s pencils and Wilson’s colors still amaze though, and it is still madcap enough to be promising. It's an enjoyable nostalgia trip that is rewarding to have with female leads, but the characters still don't feel fleshed out and this far in the series, they should.

A continuation of a great time traveling adventure story.Vaughan manages to twist and weave our protagonists through more times and locations and creating and ever expanding roster of characters for them to meet without completely bogging the story down or creating needless confusion. Everything makes sense. Or at least has some kind of set-up and pay-off that feels deserved. There aren't random deus ex machina thrown at you from different dimensions for no reason, as some time traveling stories tend to rely on.If you have vol. 1 and 2, yes, yes you should buy this.

This is a fun, tween female-centered time travel series. So far I’m really enjoying it, especially the fact that the main characters come from 1988 so all the pop culture references directly tickle my nerd brain. I’m slightly worried that the time travel loops won’t be closed in a satisfactory way because that is often an issue with these types of stories or that the all-male creative team will double down on patriarchy in some way but so far it is still a fun read.

Vaughan, Chang, and Wilson continue to make one of the most delightful and compelling comic series in recent years! If you're a fan of Vaughan's other stories and of the first 2 Paper Girls volumes, you'll definitely like this one!

Deservedly one of the most celebrated and recommended comic books of the year. Part 3 is another page-turner, beautifully illustrated by Chiang and the typically bizarre and thrilling story by Vaughn. Buy it!

3.5 starsIn the first issue of volume 1, Mr. Vaughan introduces the characters (four 12-year old girls) and the setting (a fictional Cleveland suburb, 1988). The rest of that volume has frenzied action where the town is under attack by unknown assailants. The girls' characters are revealed bit by bit, but it was hard to get a read on the characters or the plot (in retrospect (after volumes 2 and 3), the first volume reads better). The second volume is where this series took off. The characters are brought into the future (2016), and they see how the town has changed, meet one of their future selves (a bit disappointing when compared with the glorious images we have for our future selves at age 12), see huge flat screen TVs (awesome), and here twitter speak (they girls are totally confused by what passes for the language in 2016). With the trip to the future (but our present), it is a wonderful commentary by Mr. Vaughan on both the plusses (big TV's) and minuses of modern life.Without revealing any major plot details or spoilers, volume 3 takes place entirely in the prehistoric past. It has much more character development. The overall series plot inches forward just a little bit, but the characters are primed for discoveries and changes about themselves for future volumes. Unlike the aforementioned wonderful volume 2, there is no social commentary on modern life (since this is in the past rather than the girls' future (but our present)). Still, I look forward to where this is going.Cliff Chiang's penciling is good and Mr. Wilson's inking is outstanding. The creator page in the back provides the middle school pictures of all the creators with a year book like entry. Very cool.

Three books in and I'm still not sure exactly what is happening here, but I'm enjoying the ride. The story is like a puzzle. Very enjoyable read.

This is the weirdest storyline, but I absolutely love it. I can't stop reading and hate I have to wait for more.
